Unfinished Business

The closure principle is a Gestalt principle of perceptual organization, stating that we see incomplete figures as complete figures, by closing up or ignoring gaps. An example of this is seeing an incomplete circle, but perceiving it as a complete circle despite it having a gap figure. http://www.psychologyconcepts.com/closure-principle/ I came across this site when looking for a picture to illustrate my thoughts. The trouble with things been left undone is ...well...they're undone. It's very hard to move on from relationships that you feel like have not reached closure. It's like an unclosed circle. When it's not finished, when the ends do not meet things can always be put in or taken away from the experience. Sure you can place a covering over the opening in hopes of keeping the good memories in and the insecurities out but there's always something that can come along and rip that covering off and the good and the bad and the true and false will be all...

#100BlogPosts - Post# 6: Maybe They're Seeing Something We Don't Darling....

What does it mean when almost every one who knows the both of think you're either currently dating, have dated or should date? Do they see something the two of you have missed or are in denial about or are they just misreading the signals of really close friends? It's a male/female friendship won't people find something to talk about anyway?  What do you think?

#100BlogPosts - Post #4: Lovers and Friends.

So today one of my Facebook friends shared an article about loving someone you can never be with. It was an interesting read and made me think of a situation that I am in. Not a situation where I am necessarily in love with a person that I can never be with so much so as not even knowing if you and the other person can ever be together. What happens to love deferred? If you click with someone and there's not just the click but also a spark between the two of you but for one reason or another you NEVER even get to go out on a date what happens. I mean I guess in some situations you won't necessarily talk to the person again but in my situation I do still talk to the person. We have a decent enough friendship but a part of me wonders if we're really good friends or are we holding on to this in limbo relationship in hopes that one day our situations will change and we can give it a shot.      I kind of want to have him...

#100BlogPosts - Post #2: Latina's Perfect Snuggly Boo

I was sorting through a box I found in the back of my closet and found this piece of paper that I'd written 10 things that make the PERFECT snuggly boo (BAE, boyfriend, boo, lovebug, etc.) It was apparently written a while ago but the things on my list remain the same. These are in no particular order.  Must have a belief system including morals and values that are compatible to mine . He can't worship the devil, he can't belong to a cult, he can't be so devoted to his religion that he despises me if I miss a Sunday (and trust me I will miss a Sunday or two....or three). As long as he knows that I'm a good person and I always try to choose right over wrong and I know the same about him...we're good. #TeamGoodGuys Must be cute (to me).  If you were to look at the guys I've dated/pined for you will see that they have few, if any, physical characteristics in common. I don't care if other people think they're cute or not. I've dated ...

Friends with Benefits

So when you think of the term 'friends with benefits' you usually think of someone claiming to just be friends but actually getting the benefits of a relationship. These benefits are usually related to sexual acts. My situation is a little different. See I have a situation with a guy that I've known for years that I label as friends with benefits. However, his benefits package has not included physical contact. See the benefits that he seeks are my undivided attention. He wants my opinion on everything, he expects me to answer when he calls and when I don't it seems that he feels entitled to an explanation.  What's up with that? Maybe I'm just reading it wrong. Maybe this is what friendship between a girl and guy is like. I'm a firm believer that it's highly unlikely for a man and woman to be friends just friends from beginning to end without one of them at least thinking about making a move on the other. And I think that in this kind ...

Dating as a Single Parent

I'm single, I know. So as I write this post please know that I know that things happen and we never 'really' know what we'd do in certain situations until we are, of course, placed in those situations. Also, if you are a friend, relative, or someone who knows me and you feel some kind a way about this post rest assured I'm not talking about you. My posts are always about me, my life, my viewpoints. Now, you may be indeed a part of my life which means you have some amount of influence as to the things  I've seen, heard and know about but trust and believe you alone have not been the inspiration for the post. But I wouldn't be me if I didn't add that you you're feeling some kind of way about what I'm about to say then maybe you need to evaluate your life and your priorities. Shall we continue? Now, as I was saying I am single. I've been a parent for 12 years now and as I look by I've been single the majority of that time. When I grip...
