Random Thoughts: Social Media Lies

Here are three random thoughts that are loosely related:  Lying on social media should be considered a crime. You're on here making folks feel inferior; wishing their lives were as 'exciting' as yours when what you're presenting is only part of the story and sometimes it's just the part you made up.  Some one recently commented on one of my photos "who does your hair because it looks good one every photo" Now, is my hair ALWAYS done? Hell nawl...but I aint taking and posting pictures when it's not.  One of my recent boyfriend is all over social media with his new girlfriend. If I think about it long enough my feelings are a little hurt because one of the main things we constantly bumped heads about was social media...him flirting with other girls, we weren't friends on FB and I can't remember him EVER mentioning me or our relationship on social media. But here's the thing, despite him publicly showing how in love he is with thi...

Dating With Kids: The Beginning

Hey y’all! I really hope that 2016 has been good to you thus far. I haven’t posted in FOREVER. I’ve let time get away from me, but writing is my relaxation and I vow to relax more often. So Anyway – let me jump right into my first post of 2016 and my first post in a looooooong ass time! So….I have a boo. Yea, yea more on that in a future post. But let me tell you guys dating is already scary but dating with kids is super scary because it’s not just my life that I might be messing up. So I’m not going to sit her and lie and say that I took all of these things into account before I started my current relationship but these things have been on my list of ‘must haves’ for a while. Back up back up, now I haven’t dated in FOREVER! I haven’t been in a relationship since 2003. Listen, believe what I tell you and ignore the fact that I have a 9-year-old son. Ha, that too is yet another post. (He was created in the beginnings of a relationship reboot that didn’t fully reboot due to lies and o...

What I Learned While Out of the Office

10 Things I learned when I spent 10 consecutive days in a row away from work. 1. My job is stressing me out. I LOVE my job. I never want that to be misconstrued but it is indeed stressing me out. I think I need to figure out how to diffuse some of the problems I encounter before they happen. I don't even know if that's possible but there are so many non-job related issues that I just can't deal. 2. I like to sleep. Daytime naps are completely underrated and should be mandatory at work. Ideally I would like to have a job that I could do at home during the wee hours of the night and sleep to the day. 3. Wine in the daytime is AWESOME! 4. I want to be able to enjoy spontaneous day trips with my kiddos. I wanted to do so many things with them during those days off but I was so unbelievably tired that All I did was sleep. I felt horrible but this brings me to .... 5. Kids don't care what you do with them they just want to spend time with you. We had the most ama...

Why Do Married People Cheat?

So this website exists.... Like why? Why do married people cheat? I find it hard to believe that they won't get a divorce for biblical or moral reasons because aren't you cheating? In my age group it seems like for every 10 married people I know 7 of them have cheated. Why? When divorce is an option. Do you really think your mate respects you NOT divorcing them but continuing to cheat? HELL NO! I've heard from some guys that it is for financial reasons. Like "she makes more money and we've created this lifestyle" Or if I divorce her I'll have yet another child support case and my pockets can't afford it" OR "I'm staying to my kids get old enough" Old enough for what? Are children ever happy to find out their parents are divorcing? At what age do you no longer care if your parents no longer love each other? GTFOHWTBS!!!!Listen children are not stupid. They no that you and the other person don't love each other anymore. They he...

2015 - Where's the Reset Button!

OMG...If you 'follow' my blog then you know that I have a tendency to start over, fall on my face, sulk and start over again. Welp, guess where we are now. You got it, I'm about to start over again. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself in my head. I've procrastinated ALL of 2015 so far and it's about time I put my foot in my own ass and get it together. My first post of 2015 was scheduled to be about my 2015 goals list. I've been operating all year with absolutely NO goals. What's up with that girl?  So here's my list. Most of these revolve around my health because it's been a little out of control lately. I'm also keeping in mind that 1/3 of the year is gone bye bye.  LOSE WEIGHT (doctor's orders, blood pressure problems, diabetes scare, self esteem booster - yeah ALL THAT) Publish a book. (I wrote and now I gots to sell it) Build my Simply Unique brand.  Re-Launch Diva's Connection 1 Family Vacation (just me a...

Unfinished Business

The closure principle is a Gestalt principle of perceptual organization, stating that we see incomplete figures as complete figures, by closing up or ignoring gaps. An example of this is seeing an incomplete circle, but perceiving it as a complete circle despite it having a gap figure. http://www.psychologyconcepts.com/closure-principle/ I came across this site when looking for a picture to illustrate my thoughts. The trouble with things been left undone is ...well...they're undone. It's very hard to move on from relationships that you feel like have not reached closure. It's like an unclosed circle. When it's not finished, when the ends do not meet things can always be put in or taken away from the experience. Sure you can place a covering over the opening in hopes of keeping the good memories in and the insecurities out but there's always something that can come along and rip that covering off and the good and the bad and the true and false will be all...

Omnitrition Phase 2 Day 2

Well it's Day 2 and I've lost 5 lbs! Bye Bye loading troubles. Imagine if I'm as successful the rest of week! Did I mention a cheated. I know, I know that's horrible BUT the job got me cake and ice cream. So I had a bit. But I stuck to my guns the rest of the day and boy was temptation EVERYWHERE. I had George Foreman grilled chicken and raw spinach for both lunch and dinner. Lunch was so bleh. I couldn't eat all of the spinach because I'm not allowed dressing and well that's just inhumane. I've got to look into recipes but when it came down to it I just want to do it already and I did not want to procrastinate under the disguise of looking for recipes. Anyway, thank God for Frank's Red Hot (it is allowed on the diet).  I used it on the chicken AND spinach for dinner and it was quite enjoyable. I've packed it in my Hello Kitty lunchbox since today's menu is the same. I'm allergic to raw apples so last night I warmed an apple with c...

#100BlogPosts - Post #4: Lovers and Friends.

So today one of my Facebook friends shared an article about loving someone you can never be with. It was an interesting read and made me think of a situation that I am in. Not a situation where I am necessarily in love with a person that I can never be with so much so as not even knowing if you and the other person can ever be together. What happens to love deferred? If you click with someone and there's not just the click but also a spark between the two of you but for one reason or another you NEVER even get to go out on a date what happens. I mean I guess in some situations you won't necessarily talk to the person again but in my situation I do still talk to the person. We have a decent enough friendship but a part of me wonders if we're really good friends or are we holding on to this in limbo relationship in hopes that one day our situations will change and we can give it a shot.      I kind of want to have him...

#100BlogPosts - Post #2: Latina's Perfect Snuggly Boo

I was sorting through a box I found in the back of my closet and found this piece of paper that I'd written 10 things that make the PERFECT snuggly boo (BAE, boyfriend, boo, lovebug, etc.) It was apparently written a while ago but the things on my list remain the same. These are in no particular order.  Must have a belief system including morals and values that are compatible to mine . He can't worship the devil, he can't belong to a cult, he can't be so devoted to his religion that he despises me if I miss a Sunday (and trust me I will miss a Sunday or two....or three). As long as he knows that I'm a good person and I always try to choose right over wrong and I know the same about him...we're good. #TeamGoodGuys Must be cute (to me).  If you were to look at the guys I've dated/pined for you will see that they have few, if any, physical characteristics in common. I don't care if other people think they're cute or not. I've dated ...

#100BlogPosts - Post #1: Introduction, Recent Photo, 15 Interesting Facts

Why hello there, so nice of you to stop by my little blog. I need to post more. There are just not enough hours in the day! Anyway. I love to write and this blog is my therapy as well as my accountability so I'm challenging myself to post 100 times during the remaining 96 days of 2014. I think I can do it. My encouragement will be selecting random topics from various blog challenges whenever I can't come up with something to post on my own. So here we go with post numero uno. Introduction:  My name is Latina and I'm 34 years old. I live in Little Rock, Arkansas with my two sons and manage a library. In my spare time I like to craft, cook, read and write. I would tell you more but since I have to list 15 interesting facts I'll just tell you to read more to learn more! Photo : Here I am. Still trying to lose weight! It's a never ending battle. I really don't want surgery but I may be headed that way in 2015. 15 Interesting Facts: I have lo...

Am I Petty?

I'm not a petty person by definition. Usually. But a thought crossed my mind after going through a situation with a certain somebody that was so petty it shocked me that I'd even had the thought. I'm still on the fence about taking action on this thought so I thought I'd bring it to my blog readers (though quiet, I know ya'll are out there...I see my stats) and Facebook to help me decide.     Before I can present you with the actual question I need to provide you with a little background.   First, I wrote a book. A cute little non fiction number about 5 women and a beauty shop. I've been writing this book for about 2 years. Not because it was that difficult to write but because I'm a perpetual procrastinator and I foolishly yet wholeheartedly believe that I work best under pressure.   Okay. So a few months ago I decided to toss out my procrastinator way of life and just finish the damn book already! I started working on the book lik...

Gossip

Don't let the grapevine in any organization get the best of you.  I'm not going to pretend like we're not all human and haven't speculated/discussed the going ons with our peers, but in work,  church,  school and home;  only believe what you KNOW. It's true that a lot of times where there's smoke there'll be flames but again only believe what you know.  Gossiping and hearsay might be keeping you from your blessing. It may be the reason you're not getting ahead at work.  Sure sometimes the tea may be served steaming hot, right on the money and right on time but more often than not the tea can be cold, not even close to the truth, facts blown out of proportion. Or the tea may not even be tea at all. It could be just BS. The saying "If they gossip with you , they'll certainly gossip I about you" is true. You can't really trust anyone when it comes to gossiping. A lot of times rumors, thoughts, and hearsay just come out during casual c...

2014

The word for the day is accountability. Say it with me people a-coun-ta-bi-li-ty…I need some of that in my life. I have so many goals I want to accomplish but I insist on sitting here like a bump on a log letting my dreams stay forever deferred drying up like a raisin in the hot 100 degree Arkansas summer sun. And if I may toot my own horn for just a while I’m too damn smart and talented for such common fuckery. I’ve done a ton of things out of order and I think that holds me back at times and makes my goals seem unattainable but if I don’t do them for myself I have to do them for my sons. So, despite the disdain for this slogan in these social networking streets I am claiming 2014 as my YEAR! The year I will take at least on step (hopefully several steps) in the direction of getting my shit together.      So every year I create a to-do list of sorts. In 2012 I completed 2 of the 38 tasks I’d assigned myself. Go ahead laugh. I don’t m...
