My 40 Before 40 List

Whew! I narrowed this list down from like 60! I would have had even more than that had I not forced myself to just stop thinking. Anyway, I saw this idea over at the Cubicle Chick and decided I'd also make a list of 40 things I want to do before I turn 40. I searched around on the web and apparently this is kind of a common thing in the blogger world. (Who knew?) Any who. Here's my list of 40 things that I want to do before I turn 40. I have 7 years and 6 months. I think I can do it. (I'm a librarian so they're in alphabetical order. Latina’s 40 Before 40 List 1.      Be completely out of debt. My credit is...how should I put this... well, basically FUCKED UP! I've made tons of financial mistakes in life. If I hadn't been blessed to have a job that pays me decently I had to even think of where I would be right now. *shudders* I hope that I learn to live within my financial means waaay before I turn 40 but my hope is that by the time I turn 40 I wil...

Weight Loss Woes

My weight has been a constant struggle for me since.....well since forever. I have been a chubster from the very beginning for one reason or another. In the African American community chunky babies are cute right? Then as a youngster I had the fortunate misfortune of being raised by a woman who can burn in the kitchen (Love ya Pegs)! I managed to lose weight a few times in my life. I've seen pictures of me as a kid (maybe 2nd grade or so) when I was average kid size. That had to be from the running around during recess exercise regime. By the 4th grade though I didn't go to a school that enforced physical activity and I hung out with a group of nerds (the Alpha kids) who preferred talking over playing during recess. During middle school I was able to maintain a thickness about myself by living a life filled with my mom's good cooking, not eating lunch and walking what seemed like 5 miles (but was probably only a quarter of a mile at  best) to and from the bus stop stat...

Bridal Shower Invitation Design

I am the idea person behind this invite for a very close friend. I sketched it and had a real artist put it together. Maybe I'll upload my sketch one day. Anyway; ain't I creative.

I am going to do this......

Body By Vi Challenge Day 1

Today I am restarting the Body By Vi Challenge. I'd tried it before and couldn't get the mix to taste good. I tried mixing it with frozen fruit and with silk almond milk and it just wasn't working out for me. This time around I tried it with Silk chocolate milk and it was delicious. I don't know if it's just that I'm so ready to look good in my BFF's wedding or if it really does taste better now. I know the company brags about the fact that it taste like cake batter but who in the hell wants to drink cake batter twice a day? Oh well, I'm starting off just drinking one for breakfast, having a sensible lunch, and  a sensible dinner. Today for lunch I brought a Turkey sandwich (NO CHIPS) and a blueberry and granola yogurt. I'm hoping the breakfast shake with stop me from snacking at work. I'm also planning to exercise today! My goal is just 15 minutes. Wish me luck!

Random Thoughts

So I'm sitting here in my office trying to down my first official Body By Visuals shake. It's not very tasty but I may very well have mixed it wrong seeing as how I didn't follow any recipes I just threw some ice from Sonic, a hand full of blueberries, 2 scoops of shake and some almond Silk in the blender. Don't get me wrong, it's not the worse thing I've ever tasted it and I'm sure that once I get  used to it I'll love it - espeicailly if I see some results. It is true that it tastes like cake mix batter. A lot of the reviews I've seen view that is a good thing. I however and not so fond of cake mix batter that I can drink two cups of it a day and be happy about it. But of course, that's just me. On to other things - my aunt Lill passed away Monday after a very brave fight with pancreatic cancer. She was (and still is) my favorite aunt. I'm going to miss her. I won't go into details, but what I've learned is to never ever not tell ...
The Beginning…..Again First let me prelude this entry with the fact that I was sitting here getting ready to type and had titled this entry “The Beginning” . Then I thought it might be a good idea to check the titles of my other entries which is when I learned my very first entry was titled “The Beginning”. This tells me two things, 1. I’m nothing if not consistent with what I want the blog to be; 2. I’ve already started this once so I better stick to it this time. . Many of the things I will be monitoring on this blog are similar if not the same as those in the original blog post. My goal for 2012 and beyond is to become a DIVA; by my definition, not Webster’s. To me, a diva is a woman that basically has her shit together. She is excelling in her career, looks good, feels good and generally over all is GOOD. Yesterday I turned 32. I think it’s time for me to get it together don’t you? Anywho – just to recap; here are my 10 goals for 2012. My old goals are crossed out; ...
